Hub Belgium – Leuven BAU Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center
Bahçeşehir University has formed a partnership with KU Leuven, which is placed 42nd in the Times Higher Education World Rankings, to work on innovation and entrepreneurship. The BAU Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, launched within the KU Leuven Technopark, will serve as a gateway for Turkish entrepreneurs to access Europe.
What is the primary objective of the center located in Arenberg, Heverlee, Belgium, at KU Leuven?
International Access Opportunity
It seeks to enchance the knowledge and technology-based entrepreneurship potential within BAU and elevate it to an international level.
Entrepreneurs get support services in partnership with Flanders Investment and Trade (FIT), the official investment and trade agency of Belgium’s Flanders Region, and KU Leuven, one of Belgium’s major universities. These services include participation in acceleration programs, company creation in Belgium, worldwide research and development partnerships, and matchmaking for access to clients, investors, and foreign financing sources.
International Network Opportunity
Through the collaboration agreement with KU Leuven, we aim to enhance the presence of BAU researchers in international innovation, technology, and R&D-based project consortia. This will leverage KU Leuven’s existing network and its extensive experience and infrastructure in European Union Framework Programs. The office serves as a support and service center for BAU researchers and businesses.
Collaboration Opportunities
The center will not limit its presence in Belgium to just KU Leuven University; it will also work to enhance collaboration with other universities, clusters, umbrella organizations, and research and R&D institutions in neighboring countries.
Research and Technology
It will serve as a research and technology-based bridge between the Turkish community in the region and our country.
Why Belgium?
Belgium is situated in the middle of Europe’s most wealthy area. It has at least 60% of Europe’s purchasing power within a region that extends from England to the north of the Netherlands, Germany, and France, as well as some of the world’s biggest accumulations of people, capital, and industry. It is possible to reach Paris, Amsterdam, London and majority of German cities with a two-hour train ride. Brussels, the capital city of Belgium, serves as a host to a variety of international organizations and intergovernmental decision-making entities, including the European Union and NATO. This location also facilitates direct access to the center overseeing the Horizon Europe program, the European Union’s ninth framework initiative, which aims to support scientific and innovative activities with a budget of 95.5 billion Euro from 2021 to 2027.
